3 Tools You Need To Create a 6-Figure Creator Business

Hello. What’s up, everybody? Welcome back to the pod. I just started working with a new student recently. He has this really cool business. I won’t give you too many details about it because I don’t want to put him on blast or anything like that, but he has an awesome educational program that he is rolling out for a very particular niche that he serves. It’s gonna be incredibly valuable and one of the goals, because this guy has been in his industry for 25 ish years and lots of experience and a lot of value to add to the community. And so we’re talking about how can we build, say, a six figure creator business off the back of his experiences. So we started to work together and put together the plan and executing in the systems that will allow him to get there.

And he’s going to get there really, really quickly. But I wanted in this episode to share with you the three basic tools, software that you need. And you don’t really need a lot more than just these to go and build a six figure creator business. If you want to put together educational products, digital products, courses, communities, that type of thing. In fact, I personally use all three of these in my creator business. Right. So what you’re watching right now, that is part of my creator business. But the core of it really revolves around three things.

So number one, the number one thing that you need to build a creator business is some way of capturing leads. So this is going to be your email list. Another way to think about this is your customer management software, your CRM. And so there’s a lot of softwares that you can use out there for collecting emails and putting out your newsletter and your email campaigns, all that stuff. My favorite that I’ve been using for better part of the last year is Convertkit. I previously had used Activecampaign and beehive, and I used Mailchimp. All these different, and they’re great, too. Nothing wrong with them.
I just think Convertkit so far for me is the best because there’s a bunch of built in integrations that I find to be very functional and very simple to use. Also, their team over there is fantastic. Whenever I have a question, they get back to me instantly, and I have been just blown away by their customer service. Now, Convertkit, the reason I think this serves as the foundation is because they have a feature that allows you to build custom landing pages very simply. So let’s say you’re an art teacher and you want to teach people how to draw. That’s going to be your creator business. And you want to go create a website, but you don’t necessarily know how to do that, right? But you know you need to have a website with your offer so that you can attract people and get them to sign up for your email. Well, you can create your convertkit account and you can start easily creating landing pages with their built in templates right there.
And then that templated landing page will link directly people back to the email list so they can sign up directly from there. You can also link it, say with stripe and take payments directly so you can create products in there that people pay. And then Convertkit will handle the payment distribution back to stripe and then back to you. That’s really great because now you don’t have to worry about payment processors and all this other stuff like where am I hosting my product? How am I handling delivery of the product? Convertkit can do all that stuff for you. And then also you can do your weekly emails, your weekly newsletters, all those things. You can set up your automation so that you have a way of not just attracting your audience, but nurturing them. And that is through your email automation process. I think Convertkit is just a fantastic tool.
I think for the price point, it’s fantastic. I think you can get the free version if you have less than 1000 subscribers to get up and running. I love it. I think it’s great. Like I said, this would save you from having to go and start your own website and hosting it and all that stuff. You could just do it through Convertkit and then send people the link to the Convertkit URL. Landing page. Now that URL is not very pretty.
It’s kind of a weird URL. So I do recommend that you go get your own domain for whatever your business is and then do a domain redirect so that when you create the landing page on Convertkit, it will just redirect to the, I’m sorry, the reverse of that, when you say, hey, somebody go to howtodraw.com. It will redirect them to the Convertkit landing page and then you can collect their information. Very, very powerful tool. Convertkit is the bees knees. I love it. Okay, the second thing then is a way of building community convertkit. Great for bringing people in, nurturing those relationships, and then getting them to convert into customers.
Once you have them as customers, now you need to do something with them. I think one of the great low hanging fruit opportunities in this current 2024 market for creators is building communities. I think people more so than ever, are lonely and they’re hungry to come together with people who are like minded. They can learn, they can grow together, they can socialize. And so you would want to have a place that you can host that. Now I have a free community on mighty networks, but I hate that platform. I would not recommend that. I’m in the process, and I’ve been talking about this for the last couple of months of porting everything over to school skool.
And I think that’s a much better platform just in general. And that’s the second part of this equation. You can host all of your course materials, all your digital downloads or resources, all that stuff. You can have your community, you can do live calls through there. I think school is a one stop shop then for your creator hub community. And that’s very, very powerful. In fact, we’re going to be launching our own school community here very shortly, the apex collective. And this is going to be like a modern day MBA.
All of the things that I think the entrepreneur, modern entrepreneur needs in order to succeed in the current environment, not the things that they taught us in school, which I did not find very helpful for building businesses. Nothing I ever learned in school has served me well in building a business. So we’re putting together that community for you guys to come together and learn and grow. And we’re putting together tons of micro skill courses that are going to teach you everything that you need to know about creating landing pages, about copywriting, about email design, email automation. So like how to get your convertkit set up and then how to actually automate the emails to nurture and convert customers. It’s going to be amazing. So that’s coming very, very soon. Okay. The third thing that you then probably need is just a way of creating the content itself. And there’s two ways that I recommend here. So this is actually a twofer. One is loom, which is just a screen recording software that you can turn on your camera and then it will share your screen and you can work through whatever the educational material is that you’re creating. And then you can take that content and you can host it on school so people can access it. Another thing, if maybe that’s not your jam like video content, maybe you want to teach in a different way through pdfs and physical resources.
Then the other tool I would recommend is canva. Canva has so many fantastic templates that you can use to quickly create amazing pdfs and physical resources, workbooks, checklists, all that stuff. So you need to have some way of creating the product. And I think Loom and canva, those two things combined, then you host them on school, and then you use convertkit to attract people and convert them into customers. That’s the ecosystem right there. And if you build it correctly with the correct offer, and you put that offer in front of the right audience, you will have a six figure creator business in no time. That honestly is not for you. Unless you have already started some kind of business, you don’t have to be doing much at all, I would say. But you have to have already taken the first step into the game and hopefully be doing made at least your first 5000 $10,000 with your business. And then we can help you scale from there. And that would be all the way up to, if you’re trying to scale to eight figures, have a lot of content in there that’s going to help the seven figure entrepreneur go from doing two to 3 million top line revenue up to 1012 million. I probably not the guy to teach you how to go make 100 million, but I can certainly show you how to take a six figure business and turn that into a $10 million business.
