Anthony: [00:00:00] Hey, what’s up guys and gals? Welcome back to the podcast. Really psyched to have you guys here. I’m going to share with you today how you could turn a thousand dollars into $10,000 in only 30 days. The inspiration for this came because on Twitter, somebody asked this very question and it got me thinking about the fact that I’ve, I’ve done this, I did this about it 10 years ago when I was living in the back of that van, and I needed to get out and I needed to start making money.

Anthony: And so the game plan that I used then, I think there’s no reason it couldn’t work right now. In fact, um, I’d guarantee it could work. So here it is. The game plan for turning a thousand dollars into $10,000 is one you need. You need to find a, a low-cost way to start bringing in revenue immediately. So we can’t afford to have a lot of overhead or startup cost or anything like that.

Anthony: What I would do is I would go to the store and I’d buy a hundred dollars of cleaning supplies, things like squeegee rags, soaps, a ladder. So maybe this runs a bit more than a hundred bucks, [00:01:00] but you know, if you have a thousand to work with, you got plenty to, you got plenty of budget, so you. You get your cleaning supplies.

Anthony: Next thing I’m going to do is I’m just going to go and find an affluent neighborhood, like where the houses are kind of nice looking and it looks like people have disposable income. And I would go door to door to door knocking on every single door and on every single door, I would just offer, Hey, I was in the neighborhood.

Anthony: Just down the street washing a neighbor’s house. And I thought, Hey, I’ll just pop over and see if you would be interested in having your windows clean. Um, because I’m in the area, I can do it super cheap. Uh, so five bucks a window, how’s that sound? And for most people in an affluent neighborhood, they’re going to, they’re probably, you know, they maybe were planning on doing this.

Anthony: Um, having the windows cleaned, uh, it’s actually a pretty easy pitch a lot of times, most people. We’re going to turn you away, but you’re, you’re going to get a fair amount of business as long as you’re knocking on enough [00:02:00] doors and you’re refining, like you show up looking professional, not like a skeezy weird person.

Anthony: So some of that budget I would also put towards getting a nice little business card, maybe getting a nice little polo with like an embroidered, uh, your company name embroidered on it, like show up looking clean because you’re going to be going into people’s houses. Be really, uh, be. Uh, considerate of that fact.

Anthony: One, one of the, the pitches, you know, that you can really think about, like, how do you get people who want to wash their windows is, I always talked about like, Hey, you live in this great beautiful house. All these windows, you have a fantastic view, but it, they look a little dirty little skeezy. Like, I can clean that up.

Anthony: It’s going to let in a ton more light, and it’s going to, it’s going to increase the, the view, like it’s going to make your view that much better, which is awesome, right? Like, you already have a great view. Let’s make it even better. So that’s what I would do to get started. And most windows, or most houses on average are going to have around 20 windows.

Anthony: So if you’re washing 20 windows at five bucks a window, you know, you’re, you’re making pretty good money, um, [00:03:00] per house. And I found that myself, I could wash, if I had houses lined up in a day, I could easily wash five or six houses worth of windows in like under eight hours. And. The trick then is once you get that first house on board, then it gets so much easier to get your neighbors on board too.

Anthony: Because you can be like, Hey, I was just over at your neighbor Rick’s house right across the street washing his windows. I thought I would pop over. Right? And you just keep doing that until you get to the point where now you have enough income coming in. Because if you can get through, you know, five houses in a day and each one is generating a hundred bucks, now you’re making about 500 bucks a day like, That’s pretty good money.

Anthony: So for people who are thinking like, oh, that won’t work for me because my market is X, Y, and z. I live in Canada. It’s too cold. You know, there’s other ways that you can take the same principle and, and apply it. You could go and shovel snow. You just show up on people’s doorstep. As soon as it’s snowing and you’re like, I have a shovel.

Anthony: Would you like me to shovel it? And then you walk over to the neighbor, Hey, I have a shovel. Would you [00:04:00] like me to shovel it? You know, this doesn’t sound glamorous. It sounds like a lot of. That’s because it is. And, and I’ll tell you what to do to make it less work in just a second. But we’re going to, we’re going to focus on first getting some re res, uh, some income coming in.

Anthony: So we’re going, we’re shoveling, that’s one option. Mowing the lawn, depending on the season, it could be raking the lawn, it could be removing snow from people’s roofs, right? Like if you have just a, a. A roof rake to go get snow off of people’s roofs and you go around saying, Hey, you know, that’s putting a lot of, you don’t realize it, but it’s putting a lot of damage on your roof and it’s actually decreasing the longevity of the roof and increasing like the likelihood that you’re going to have to re um, uh, repair it sooner or replace it sooner.

Anthony: I can just pull the snow down for you guys real quick. 20 bucks, right? It’ll take you, it’ll take you no, like no time at all. So like, if you had no job, uh, no job, and this is where your time is going. You’re trying to turn a thousand dollars into $10,000 in, in 30 days, like this is, this is a pretty powerful strategy now.

Anthony: it’s going to be very hard. It’s going to be a lot of physical work if [00:05:00] you’re trying to do this all on your own, which is why we need to start using leverage as soon as possible. So we need to bring on an extra set of hands as quickly as possible, because you’re going to hit this point where if you’re, if you’re knocking on doors, then it means you’re not washing windows.

Anthony: And if you’re washing windows, it means you’re not knocking on doors. So you need to get to that place as quickly as possible where you have the new business engine coming in and also the fulfillment side, right? So it’s the marketing and it’s the. So as soon as you can, you want to get to that place where you get a buddy coming in and he’s knocking on doors and doing the pitch.

Anthony: And for each, each win, each house that he gets signed up, like he gets a commission, like that’s his incentive, or flip the script, maybe he’s the one washing windows and you are the one that’s taking the commission. So for each house, if you’re like, this is going to make us a hundred bucks, then for me, for each house that I can get signed up, maybe I get 10 of that, right?

Anthony: So now my job is to go out there and see if I can get like 10 houses. Because now I’m going to make a hundred bucks just like that. Real easy. [00:06:00] And this is not seriously, it’s not as hard as it, it sounds. It’s just a matter of knocking on enough doors, making the phone calls, and like getting in front of enough people.

Anthony: And this is, this works for me guys. Like this was a powerful strategy. So if you’re at that place right now, you’re still trying. If you’re young, this is a great job. If you’re young. Um, I think landscaping is fantastic. It because it’s one of those things that’s recurring, like people’s windows are going to get dirty again.

Anthony: People’s lawns are going to grow again. So if you have a lawnmower and you show up on somebody’s doorstep and you just offer to solve the problem for the, for you, for them, without them ever having to like, Think about it or do any work in terms of like finding a service provider or anything, like you’re just there on the doorstep.

Anthony: Seriously, if somebody showed up in my doorstep, depending on the day in July, and they were just like, Hey, can I mow your lawn for 20 bucks? I’d be like, yes, please ha, I give you 50 bucks. Just mow it so I don’t have to deal. I don’t have to think about it anymore. So that’s how I would turn a thousand dollars into $10,000 in 30 days if I [00:07:00] was.

Anthony: Yeah, in a position where I, I really needed that, not so you can take the same concept and, and apply it to all sorts of service businesses. I think service businesses are the best way, um, to get going in the beginning because products are expensive. Keeping inventory, managing, working capital, all of that stuff.

Anthony: But service, it’s just, you go and you provide it. So if you can be a graphic designer, if you could be a copywriter, I mean, there’s so many different ways these days. I probably would not lean on my physical skills anymore person. Only because I’ve developed all of my, my softer skills. So I would probably go and start copywriting or graphic designing building websites for, for people like those are, I would say, Valuable tasks that do not, that most people really struggle with.

Anthony: And so they’re, they’re high value. Um, but yeah, I hope that brought you guys some value. Maybe gave you a new, new lens to think about window washing or some other, uh, endeavor.
