The Ultimate Belief Limiting Your Potential
The Amplified Impact Podcast
August 19th, 2024
Out here enjoying a perfect Minnesota day, but I’ve got some thoughts to share. Ever feel like you’re not getting what you deserve? Whether it’s money, relationships, or success, here’s the deal: you’ll never get more than what you believe you deserve. So how do you level up? Remember, it’s not about perfection…it’s about progress. Get out there and overcome obscurity. Trust me, it’s worth it.
TWEETABLE QUOTE:
“You never get a penny more than what you think you deserve. You don’t get the body. You won’t ever get the body of your dreams if you don’t think you deserve it. You won’t get the relationship of your dreams if you don’t think you deserve it.”

Episode Transcript:
What’s up, all you beautiful people? So we’re just out on a little rock, beautiful Minnesota summer day. I want to shoot this video today, this podcast episode, this way, for two reasons. One, I wanted to talk to you about a concept I’ve been thinking about, which is that you never get. You’ll never get a dollar more. You’ll never get more than what you think you deserve in life. So really setting the expectations, the belief about what it is that you deserve, really sets the upper limit of what you’ll ultimately receive. The second reason that I wanted to shoot this video while we’re out here rocking with our backpack, got 50 pounds back there. Going up a hill, getting out of breath, is to address the question, hey, how do you make content when you’re busy, when you got all these other things that you’re competing with? I got to get my workout in.
I got to care of the kids. I got to go, you know, go do these one on one meetings. I have to have time to actually create the content. All this stuff, right? Like all these excuses that we make about, oh, it has to be this overly produced piece of content. If it’s not absolutely great, people are going to think it’s stupid and it’s going to be a waste of time. All of these things that you hear, right. I just want this to be the proof that you need, that it doesn’t need to be perfect. It just needs to be done.
One is better than none. And sometimes that just means you pull out your phone. In this case, I’m using my DJI OsmO with a little microphone right here. So this video quality, sound quality should be pretty good. But it really doesn’t need to be this overly produced thing. You don’t need to be overthinking, especially in the beginning. Depending on where you are on your journey, you really just need to be putting something out there, making people aware that you exist. Because the number one issue that you have to overcome is obscurity.
Same issue that every entrepreneur ultimately has to solve for is, like, how do you overcome obscurity? Make people aware that you have a solution to a problem that they might not yet even be aware they have. The only way that you can do that is putting out content in one form or another. That content could be a video like this for a podcast, on YouTube, for Instagram, could be a piece of content in the form of an advertisement that you’re going to run on Facebook. Could be content in the form of getting on a stage. Could be content in the form of going up and actually talking to somebody one on one and saying, here’s the thing that we have, right? It’s all different forms that this can manifest. But at the end of the day, if you’re not actually going to create it and put it out there, nobody’s gonna see it. It’s not gonna have any impact. It’s not gonna have the ability to transform anybody’s life.
And in a very real way, I think everybody watching this that has a business is in business one, to make money, transform your own life, transform the life of your family, but you. And just as meaningful to transform the lives of your customers, the people that you serve with your product, your service. So let’s talk about the other thing, which is you’ll never get a penny more than what you just what you think you deserve in this life. And it’s not just about money. This is really anything like, you won’t get the body you think you deserve. You get the body you think you deserve. You get the partner you ultimately think you deserve. You get the relationships you think you deserve.
You get the business you think you deserve. You never get more than what you ultimately think you deserve. And if you don’t think you’re worth it or if you set your baseline too low, there’s any surprise then that that’s the thing that you’re gonna get. Right? If you want more, simply start by expecting more from yourself. Expect more such. Expect expectations higher and through the lens of money and through for your business and growth. One of my favorite friends is the internal thermostat. Your internal baseline money thermostat.
Everybody has a number that you consider normal, right? Like a. That normal. That number, like, feels like a lot of money. Below that number you like, you can usually make a decision to buy or purchase a thing. You know, for me, that used to be $20. $20? More than $20. Well, I have a lot of money. Less than $20.
Something like that’s doable. I’m looking over here. This guy’s got a busted window, and he’s wearing a mask. Pretty sure that guy’s up to no good. Yep, that guy just broke into a car for sure down there. Uh, can we see it? Yep, right there. That guy’s got a busted window, and there’s a dude over there with a mask. We’re gonna leave him alone because I am not a vigilante.
I am not Batmandhe. Though you will have noticed, you have never seen myself or Batman in the same room at the same time. So maybe. Maybe I am Batman. Maybe that’s exactly what Batman will say. Hey, who? Your internal number. What’s that number that you have that you, for your dollar amount that you consider normal, is it $20? Is $1,000? Is it 10,000? 50,000? When it comes to, like, pitching very high ticket items, you know, for Invictus capital, we, our minimum investment is $50,000. Our average investment sizes $80,000.
So we get people putting hundreds and hundreds of thousands of dollars into an investment with us. And so for us, I don’t think about a million dollars as being a lot of money. So asking somebody to invest 100,000, not a big deal, when we’re raising 5 million right in that frame, makes it more likely that we actually get that amount of money. But if I’d gone into that conversation thinking 5000 is a lot of money, 50,000, therefore, is ten times that. It’s a big deal. They feel that in the energy, makes it much harder to get that amount right. So all the same with your product, your service. See, people all the time underpricing themselves.
And the reason they’re underpricing themselves isn’t based off of what the consumer would think it’s worth or the value that the customer would ultimately get from the product. It’s based off of their own internal thermostat that’s telling them, oh, I couldn’t possibly charge $150 for this course, or I $1,000 or $10,000, God forbid, $100,000. And then we let that baseline limit us, and that ultimately becomes your reality. Right? The thing that you think you deserve, you won’t rise above that. So you never get a penny more than what you think you deserve. You don’t get the body. You won’t ever get the body of your dreams if you don’t think you deserve it. You won’t get the relationship of your dream if you don’t think you deserve it.
Let’s do it. Another laugh. Just at the top of the hill. Gonna do one more, always do one more, as Ed Milat says. So I want to encourage you to think about that. Think about in your own life right now, through the lens of your, your health, your wealth, your relationships. What is it that you think you deserve? Do you think that’s a really cool frame? Actually, that’s the eleven building. I’m over here in the middle district in Minneapolis.
It’s really cool shop. You’ll never get a penny more in your relationships, your health. So what can you do to set that expectation higher and say, I deserve more, I deserve better. This is, this is the reality I’m seeking. And the best ways that I found to do that is one, get around people who are already thinking on the higher level, who have bigger dreams for them, their lives than you have for your own. That becomes the process of osmosis, which you get to benefit. Get pulled up. Right? Like every room is either reverting, is reverting to the mean.
So that means everybody’s either getting pulled up to the average or getting pulled down to the average. You want to get into rooms with people who are above you, so you get pulled up to their average. That’s the best way. Second, get around a coach, somebody who can look at you and say, here’s your potential, here’s where you could be, here’s how you could do it. And then take that and run with it, implement it. You’d be surprised. You will actually get results. So that’s going to do it for me.
We’re going back past the car break in and our, our shady dude with the mask. Actually the car is gone. The guy with the mask, I do not know. Did he steal the cardinal? I’m very confused. Broken window, man with mask, car gone, who knows? All right, so let me know. What is the belief that’s limiting you right now? What is it that you think you deserve? Like inside your heart you have these goals that are probably in excess of what you think you deserve. I want you to tell me in the comments what is the delta between what it is you think you deserve and your goal? Because I’m guessing there’s a gap there. And then tell me what is it that you’re going to do to reframe that so that you can get your goals in alignment with that deep inner belief about what it is that you deserve.
And that means not bringing your goals down. That means bringing what you think you deserve up. Do that, everything starts to change pretty quick. So we’re going downhill, getting my breath back. Hope you guys found this valuable. If it did, let me know. I’ll catch you tomorrow. But until then, stay hyperfocus, my friends.
